Hi, I’m Emily

And as a qualified Transformational Life Coach and Wellbeing Coach, I am passionate about supporting people to create a life where they can gently thrive.

As someone who has previously felt stuck, overwhelmed, and burnt out, I know first hand the importance of building a life where you can prioritise your wellbeing, live more intentionally, and pursue growth and your ambitions at a pace that works for you.

My story…

I spent the best part of a decade working in start-ups and rapidly scaling businesses. I learnt a lot, but it was relentlessly fast-paced, and so my needs, my joy, and my wellbeing got put on the back burner.

I became really disconnected from myself, unsure what I even wanted out of life, but knowing that the path I had been following was not giving me the joy or fulfilment I craved for.

I knew something had to change, and as someone who had always been interested in coaching, I decided to get my Accredited Diploma in Transformational Coaching with Animas. It was the best decision I ever made.

Since then I have had the honour of coaching amazing clients to get clear on what is really important to them (away from the noise), and supporting them as they make their dreams a reality whilst also prioritising their wellbeing every step of the way.

I also deliver workshops to groups and have partnered with some fantastic companies, supporting their team members with their professional development, ensuring that they can gently thrive in their careers as well.

What I believe…

I used to believe that in order to be successful I had to neglect my wellbeing, that I had to abandon my own needs in order to feed my ambition. I believed that I would earn my joy and fulfilment once I got the promotion, bought the house, went on the fancy holiday…

But I was wrong. The joy and fulfilment never came, and I ended up burning out.

This was a turning point for me.

I decided to make my wellbeing a priority: I learnt to rest properly, savoured simple pleasures, connected with people who made me feel good, and did things that made my soul light up.

And the result? I started to clearly see what truly felt joyful and fulfilling in the present. For the first time I felt like I was living intentionally and deeply trusting myself. I felt grounded and empowered, and I got my spark back.

Emily putting wellbeing first

The most surprising thing was that my ambition didn’t go anywhere, but instead I became ambitious about the things that truly mattered to me. I set goals that felt aligned to the life I wanted to create and I worked towards them at my own pace whilst taking really good care of myself every step of the way.

The truth is that I feel more successful and more confident now than I ever did before!

And so this is what I believe now…you don’t have to choose between success and wellbeing.

In fact, your wellbeing is the foundation for understanding what you’re truly ambitious about, and for achieving it in a way that feels spacious, joyful, and aligned.

This belief has become my gently thriving approach.

And it’s what led me to create The Gently Thriving Principles…

The Gently Thriving Principles

These are the core principles to living a gently thriving life:

Honouring your humanness is your superpower

You recognise that when you work to meet your needs as a human being, you move from a state of constant exhaustion to feeling energised and inspired. Therefore you allow yourself to get good quality, guilt-free rest, and prioritise your wellbeing physically, mentally, and spiritually above all else. By doing this, you create a solid foundation upon which you can nurture the confidence to achieve your dreams and build a life that truly feels good.

You can pursue big dreams that are right for you

You opt-out of the traditional definition of success and instead tune into what’s most important to you in this season of your life, away from the noise of expectation. You’re allowed to explore what success means to you and you give yourself permission to pursue that on your own terms.

Small steps lead to big change

You choose to achieve your dreams in a sustainable and joyful way. You break down your goals, taking one action at a time. You exercise patience, trusting the process, and knowing that small consistent steps will lead you to where you want to go.

You’re allowed to try things out and change your mind

You give yourself permission to experiment, play, make mistakes, and learn from experience. You are allowed to change your mind and pivot if something you’re pursuing is no longer serving you. Nothing is set in stone.

Find the joy in the now

You fill your days with what makes you feel good, and you prioritise the experiences and activities that energise you, inspire you, and make you smile. You intentionally slow down, appreciate the everyday simple pleasures, practice gratitude, and be present in the moment.

Embrace kindness and compassion, always.

You approach everything from a place of kindness and compassion, to others but especially to yourself. You champion others, and become your own biggest cheerleader. Most importantly, you show yourself empathy and grace through the ups and the downs. Your self-talk is like having a conversation with a best friend, full of love, care and respect.

5 things about me…

Recovering from burn out and putting needs on table

I have lived in South London (first in Balham, then Tooting, and now Mitcham) with my partner for 13 years, but spent my early childhood living in the Middle East.

I love to travel and exploring new places, whether at home or abroad.

I’m an avid reader and actually studied English Literature and French at University. But please don’t ask me for my favourite book, it’s too hard to pick! Although I will share that recently I’ve been really enjoying reading books by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Richard Osman, and for non-fiction Selina Barker’s Burnt Out and Sophie Cliff’s The Hustle Cure have really resonated.

I’m a huge fan of journaling and you will catch me scribbling my thoughts and dreams down in a notebook most mornings. It really helps me to process what is going on in my world and decide how best to manage my time and energy.

I’m a renowned chocoholic. I just can’t resist it!
